Day by Day Itinerary

After a hearty breakfast in Pokhara, we will embark on a 42 km drive to Nayapul. This scenic drive will take us to the west of Pokhara and mark the start of our trek towards Ulleri village. Our journey begins with a 15-minute walk through the deep valley along the Modi river, leading us to Birethanti. We will cross a bridge and take a shortcut route to reach the off-road path.

The first 3 hours of our trek will take us through local farmland, with stunning views of the river, waterfall, and massif landscapes. Our first stop will be the small village of Ramgai where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. After recharging, the trails will take us through farms and up some stone-steep steps through the villages of Sudame, Hille, and Thikhedunga (1560 m). While Thikhedunga is a popular trekker village, in recent years, trekkers have preferred to continue up to Ulleri for better accommodation options and road access.

From Ulleri, the trek to Ghorepani is relatively difficult, but also incredibly scenic and picturesque. The first hour of the walk takes you through the farmland and dense village houses, churches, and schools. After crossing Banthati village, you take a left trail into the forest.

The trekking route from Banthati to Nangethati is all through the forest of Rhododendron and fir, providing a tranquil and enjoyable walk. Once you reach Nangethati, you can take a break for lunch before continuing onto Ghorepani for the next two hours.

Ghorepani is a popular trekking spot in the Annapurna region, with thousands of people visiting every day to take in the stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

Today is a highlight of our short trip, as we have the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunrise from the top of Poon Hill. To fully experience this wonder, we must wake up early and embark on the 40-minute steep walk to the summit. Surrounded by more than 10 towering peaks, including the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains, the view from Poon Hill is truly magical.

The sunrise is a sight to behold, as the peaks seem to come to life as the sun rises behind them, illuminating the panoramic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. Words cannot truly capture the beauty of this moment.

After a memorable morning, we will return to Ulleri and take a jeep back to Pokhara via Nayapul. We will spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Pokhara.

Overnight-stay at Pokhara Hotel.

Poon hill sunrise trek

2019

Doing the Poon Hill trek with Santosh was one of the highlights of my traveling life. The scenery was amazing, with a range of gardens, forests, and alpine views. But I can’t recommend Santosh’s leadership with greater enthusiasm. He has years of experience making people feel comfortable and it showed. The guy knows the mountains like the back of his hands, and always had detailed answers to any question he was asked. Add to that his empathy and good company, and we were all glad we had him on our side.
